Trailblazers Hall of Fame Nomination Process

Over the years we have received many questions about our election process. Here are the requirements and how it works:

Potential candidates must be nominated by a Trailblazers Member, which can be anyone who attends the banquet. Potential candidates must have attended the Trailblazers Banquet at least twice (subject to verification). Our purpose is to honor the history of motorcycle competition in Southern California.

We induct six individuals each year to our existing Hall of Fame, plus one more person to receive the Earl & Lucile Flanders Lifetime Achievement Award. This award typically honors someone whose contributions to the Industry and Sport have been significant, beyond their status as a competitor. The recipient of this award is also included in our Hall of Fame. The Trailblazers Board members review all nomination packages carefully, then votes at an in-person meeting to choose the Inductees.

Candidates who are not selected at this voting meeting are automatically given “Carryover Status” for three consecutive years and will be considered the following year. NOTE: There is no continuous path to eventual election, as if everyone who gets nominated eventually gets elected. That’s not how it works. Every year the process begins anew. 

The nomination package you submit should be brief, with just a few pages noting the highlights of the candidate’s career along with some photos and/or related magazine articles. Maximum 8 pages! Please submit in digital form only, Microsoft Word or pdf. file not to exceed 6 MB works best. If the candidate is elected, we will ask for more photos in a higher resolution format. Please do not send paper copies!

Our highest award is the Dick Hammer Award. The recipient is chosen only by the Trailblazers Board members at our annual in-person voting meeting.
